RAMOS FAMILY UPDATE
This newsletter is a short one this week, and I’ll just be asking for a lot of prayers from all of you for our family. After a month at home together, we found ourselves back in the hospital with Marsaili battling rhinovirus (again).
On Thursday evening, Liam began coughing uncontrollably, and Josh had to take him to the ER. He was diagnosed with croup and strep throat. We prayed that we would be able to help him get healthy again without Marsaili getting sick, too, but she started coughing the next night. She was not diagnosed with croup or strep, but it looks like she somehow contracted rhinovirus again…and this strain is a rough one.
In the past, she’s not had fevers with rhinovirus, but we’ve been struggling to keep her fever free since yesterday afternoon. With fevers come extremely high heart rates, difficulty breathing, and uncontrollable seizures. She is currently on a biPAP around the clock and is requiring a fair amount of support to keep her oxygen levels up. She’s very, very tired, but she’s fighting like she always does.
Thankfully, Liam is feeling much more like himself. He is playing and happy and hoping we can all be home again together soon.
Specific Ramos Family Prayer Requests
Fever reduction and elimination, as well as seizure control
Better pain control - we think her throat is hurting from all of the coughing
Improved respiratory function and clearance of mucus and secretions
Good results from all blood work - we are closely monitoring her kidney function right now because Motrin is the only thing breaking her fever, but this can be rough on the one kidney she has
Rest and good spirits for all of us as we battle yet another hospital stay
Thank you for being part of this community. Thank you for your love and support as we navigate challenging circumstances in this journey. We love you and appreciate you.
